I hate to be a Debbie downer or negative Nelly, but seriously guys it’s been raining non stop here in Toronto. For reals. And it’s not one of those heavy rain for a couple of hours and then “oh hey there Mr. Sun there you are!” No, it’s been rain all day long for days. No exaggeration. I get it, fall is a fave season of many because of the leaves changing and the cooler weather. And I love those things too, but I just can’t handle rainy days, everyday. I can’t. All I want to do is to stay in my bed all day long and watch tv or read a good book. On top of that, rainy days make my head hurt so much that I wish an anvil will fall on my head and end my pain. (I know that sounded really dramatic, but imagine it in a cartoon way and you will chuckle).
Anyway, that’s enough of the Debbie downer talk. Thanks for letting me vent.
We’ve been in desperate need of something to remind us of summer days gone by and so we headed out the other day for Mexican food. There’s a lot of Mexican restaurants right now in Toronto. One recent one we tried is El Catrin at the Distillery District. I love the Distillery District. It’s our go to spot to take friends and family visiting Toronto. There’s tonnes of stores to see, a variety of restaurants and bakeries and there’s always some sort of event going on! El Catrin replaced Boiler House which was one of our fave restaurants (we had our pre-wedding family dinner there) and so far it’s garnered a lot of buzz for its “authentic and modern Mexican cuisine.” The tradicional margarita was real good and I was told that the fuego sandia (watermelon fire) cocktail is good too! Our fave of all the dishes we tried were their ceviche de atun (tuna ceviche) and of course, their guacammole en la mesa. If you’re ever in downtown Toronto or want to change things up, visit the Distillery District and try out El Catrin. Here are some food pics to whet your appetite:

This looks like a place that can cheer you up even on the rainiest day.
Wish I could send you a bit of sunshine over:)
