We love our summers and long weekends here in the Great White North. To take advantage of our short summers, we make a list of must see places that’s not too far from the city. Terre Bleu is a perfect staycation location as it’s only about an hour drive from Toronto.
WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?
Terre Bleu is a family run organic lavender farm in Milton, Ontario. The farm started with 10,000 lavender plants in 2011 and now has over 50,000 lavender plants, herbs and flowers spread over 160 acres. It’s a sustainable farm that opens it’s gates to the general public in the summer season.
The farm has lavender fields, wild flower fields, herb bar, art installations, distillery, apiary and a small gift shop.
VISITING THE FARM
You can purchase tickets online or at the gate. (TIP: buy online and save). You choose either a morning (11 am to 130 pm) or an afternoon (130 pm to 4 pm) ticket. Remember that the tickets are non refundable and there are no exchanges.
The farm is open seven days a week from 11 am to 5 pm.
You can use your card or cash to purchase drinks, food or anything at the gift shop.
Wear comfortable shoes, sun protection and bug repellant (natural).
Here’s the biggest tip we can share with you guys: put the camera down and enjoy everything the farm has to offer – watch the bees go from one lavender stalk to another, breath in the fresh floral breeze as you sip a Bellini (non alcoholic) or two and enjoy their lavender ice cream while people watching in one of their two big gazebos in the property.
Being a long weekend when we visited, the farm was packed with families, couples, and friends enjoying the farm and it was a beautiful sight but we also saw many going from one art installation to another taking selfies and taking little note of the beauty the farm offers. So yes, take photos and preserve those memories but don’t forget to use nature’s greatest camera – your eyes and take in the natural beauty that is Terre Bleu!
