La povertà è la madre di tutte le arti or for us English folks, we say: necessity is the mother of invention. What does this saying have to do with today’s post besides that fact that it’s also Italian? Well, have you ever had guests stopped by unexpectedly and if you are like me, these are my three worries: 1) Am I wearing pants right now? 2) Is my place clean? 3) What do I serve them? Numbers 1 and 2 are easy to solve by putting on appropriate clothing and shoving everything else in your bedroom and closing the door! To solve number three usually requires my brain to go on overdrive while appearing totally casual and happy to have unexpected guests stop by. This is when espresso and ice cream come in handy. Sure you can serve them a shot or two of espresso or a scoop or two of ice cream, but why not combine both and come up with a genius drink? So if you’re like me and have unexpected guests stop by from time to time, here’s a little idea for you:
- 3-4 shots of espresso
- 1-2 scoops of ice cream
- In a mug or drinking glass, combine the espresso shot and scoop of ice cream.
- Serve immediately.
