I had a couple of my worst days at work this week and the week is not even close to being over.  The last couple of days have been on of those high stress, vomit inducing days at work. But for some odd reason I was very calm and took it all in stride. As I get older, I am gradually learning how to combat stress and properly deal with stressful situations. It’s very easy to just lose it, throw anything within reach or yell at the person or thing making you stressed out and it’s very difficult to keep your emotions under control when everything else is going wrong around you. But here’s the thing, it actually shows strength of character when a person keeps their emotions in check even in the most difficult of situations (I am not talking about any tragic events or life changing events here). And from a logical point of view, when you keep your emotions in check and deal with the situation as calmly as possible, you can actually deal with the situation a lot better. It’s better than having to deal with a mess and broken items or hurt feelings afterwards on top of having to deal with what caused the stress in the first place. Don’t get me wrong, I am no Calmy McCalmerson (yeah I made that up) at all times and I’ve had my fair share of freak outs for sure.  But I wish I was a calm and mild person and I am trying very hard to be, well slowly anyway. Remind me of this post next time I am about to lose it!

Anyway, stressful days like the last couple of days at work remind of me the more peaceful, enjoyable days I’ve had recently. One such day was not too long ago actually, on February 15, 2015. We had record breaking over -30C something temperature that day in Toronto, but it was still a nice day. Why you ask? Well, we started the day with an awesome brunch at Cluny Bistro where we had the most scrumptious breakfast along with awesome service (can you tell by now how much I love this place?). Then we went to see old friends and listened to some sage advise. And after that we went to go to an Asian mall to find interesting things and interesting food! After our adventure at the mall, we headed over to my mom’s with our bellies full to try out the interesting desserts and snacks we found. That day was the complete opposite of Rainy days and Mondays (a song by the Carpenters) kind of a day. It’s almost like for that day, we perfected the art of doing nothing. Nothing in the sense that we did not do anything that’s routine or stress inducing, we lingered and enjoyed each minute, each bite, each experience. A day like that helps me cope with stressful days and helps me have perspective.  Again, remind me of this post when I am having a bad day!

Well, that’s my rant for today and if you have any wise advise for us when it comes to dealing with stressful situations and people, please do share. In the meantime, here’s some pictures of our fun day:
