Russian Iced Tea

There are two beverages Russians love – vodka and chai  (a.k.a. tea).  In fact, tea and tea drinking are a part of Russian culture. Part of showing Russian hospitality is to serve your guests vodka during their meal and tea for dessert.   Combine these two beverages and you have a fantastic cocktail.  Try it out at home and you’ll see why Russians love their teas and vodkas! Here’s the recipe for you:

Russian Iced Tea

Ingredients
  • lemonade
  • 4 cups of strong black tea*
  • 1.5 tablespoon of honey
  • 6 ounces of vodka
  • strips of lemon zest
Instructions
  1. Fill an ice tray with lemonade and freeze.
  2. The day before serving or at least a few hours before, brew 4 cups of strong black tea (*we used 3 bags earl grey tea).
  3. While the tea is still hot, add the honey and stir the honey until dissolved.
  4. Let the tea cool on the counter and then refrigerate.
  5. Into a pitcher, add the cold tea and vodka.
  6. To serve, put 3 or 4 lemonade ice cubes into a glass and garnish with lemon strips.
